چکیده
Abstract Eritrea is an East African multiethnic country with intermediate endemicity for hepatitis B. Our aim was to establish the most prevalent genotypes of B virus (HBV) among patients liver disease. A total 293 Eritrean disease who were surface antigen (HBsAg) positive enrolled. All sera tested transaminases, HBV DNA viral load, and seromarkers including HBsAg, anti-HBcAb (total), HBeAg, anti-HBeAb. Those reactive HBsAg anti-HBc (total) further genotyping. The median (interquartile range) load ALT levels 3.47 (1.66) log IU/mL 28 (15.3) IU/L, respectively. Using type-specific primer-based genotyping method, 122/293 (41.6%) could be genotyped. Irrespective mode occurrence, genotype D (21.3%) predominant circulating genotype, followed by C (17.2%), E (15.6%), C/D (13.1%), C/E (10.7%). Genotypes C/D/E (7.4%), A/D (4.9%), D/E (4.1%), (2.5%), B, A/E, B/E, A/D/C (0.8%) also present. in comprised a mixture genotypes. This first study Eritrea.

Prevalence of Hepatitis B Virus, Genotypes, and Mutants in HBsAg-Positive Patients in Meerut, India
Background: Genetic changeability of hepatitis B virus (HBV) signifies a challenge for the sensitivity of immunologic and molecular diagnostics. Therefore, knowing the spread of HBV genotypes (GENs) and mutation has considerable impacts on treatment strategies, vaccination program, diagnosis, and prevention. The present study aimed to detect HBV GENs and mutants in HBsAg-positive patients. Meth...
متن کاملThe Absence of Hepatitis C Virus Infection Among Patients with Hepatitis B virus in Mashhad, Iran
Background and Aims: Many studies have provided evidence for the role of hepatitis B and C viruses in the development of liver cancer. Although the routine treatment is available for both conditions, no definite guideline is available to treat patients dually infected with HBV and HCV. This study was performed to determine the frequency of HBV/HCV-coinfection in Mashhad, North-East of Iran. Mat...

ABSTRACT Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in patients who lack detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is called occult hepatitis B infection. Such infections have been frequently identified in patients with chronic hepatitis Cliver disease, but their prevalence is not known. Methods: 207 patients with chronic hepatitis C who were HCV -RNA and antiHCV positive were stu...
متن کاملPrevalence of Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus and human immunodeficiency virus infections among patients candidate for orthopedic trauma surgeries
Background: Infectious diseases are major public health problems, among which blood-borne ones are the most important infections. Patients who undergo orthopedic surgery are at higher risk of transmitting infectious diseases from and to others, due to repeated blood examinations and injection, drains secretion and receiving blood products. Accordingly, in this study we determined prevalence of ...
